The King and his Servant
“I'm all used up,” said Subject to
The King, “I have no more to bring.
My arms all bones, my legs retired, stiff.
My mouth is dry, my eyes too heavy to lift.
I'm all squeezed out, no more to give
Thy Majesty a reason more to live.”
“What tainted eyes,” said the King, “Whom
Has fed these twisted lies? I've only hired
Thee, not by size, nor by your power, but by
My hands, to give thee dower. I only wanted
Thee to see, that I would give everything,
and more, for thy glee. No action can
Well up to it, but desire, in gradual expand.
All I want, is your Locket, inside that
Torn up, and worn, still amendable breast pocket.”
