Lucky I met you, but October's Gravity has Let Me Go

I took quotes from various songs and put them together into a poem. I tried to think about the rhythm of the words, and what I was trying to portray.

(1) Lucky by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat

(2) October by Bethany Joy Lenz

(3) Gravity by Sarah Bareilles

(4) Let Me Go by 3 Doors Down

“Do you hear me? I'm talking to you

Across the water, across the deep, blue Ocean,

Under the open sky”(1)“it's October again,

leaves are coming down.

One more year's come and gone,

and nothing's changed at all.”(2)

Yet “something always brings me

back to you, it never takes too long.

No matter what I say or do, I still feel

you here till the moment I'm gone.” (3)

“In this world there's real and make-believe,

and this seems real to me...

I'm torn between this life I lead and

Where I stand” (4)

“I feel your whisper across the sea

I keep you with me in my heart” (1)

This is how “you hold me without touch,

You keep me without chains.

I've never wanted anything so much

than to drown in your Love, and not

Feel your Rain” (3) and

“This world falls on me...

So let me go, let me go”(4)

“Let me feel, I don't care if I break down

Let me fall, even if I hit the ground

and if I cry a little, die a little

At least I know I've lived”(2)

“And so I'm sailing through the sea,

To an island where we'll meet

You'll hear the music fill the air”(1)

“Set me free, leave me be.

I don't want to fall another moment

Into your gravity. Here I am and I stand

So tall, just the way I'm supposed to be.”(3)

“I dream ahead to what I hope for,

and I turn my back on loving you” (4)

“I wanna be somebody, I wanna

face the things that I've been running from” (2)

“But you're neither friend nor foe

Though I can't seem to let you go.

The one thing that I still know is that

You're keeping me down.”(3)
