This poem erupted from an actual experience: Myself and four other friends were getting a ride from a certain someone, and he turned right on a red light. It was perfectly legal, but at the same time life threatening. A car was very close to hitting us. Luckily, we managed to slide by without a scratch or even a honk from the oncoming traffic. We did experience a bit of tale-gating afterwards though. Better than a broken limb, I guess.
He starts off with tender care, a press
To the pedal, engine sound triggered
echoing a summon, bait for a ligger.
Acceleration sprawl, hurried scattering
Skids, destroyed. Crescendos there, and everywhere,
Then throw-down halts, a pain to bear. Aware,
Of blurred side views, some wild color schemes
Flashed before mine, recline to see dreams. Then far
Off the distant horizon, catch four eyes
Glaring, with no blinks in between, its mouth
Open ajar. It beckons, awaits for us
To draw near, the escalating drums
Pound faster and harder, our fate a drear, then
Climaxing Swerve! Life still kept, unreserved.
